Think a weekend in the sun is all about relaxation? Coasties from Portishead are about to prove you wrong. We’ve decided to ditch the motors, the tech, and quite possibly our dignity for a truly mad-cap challenge.
Our mission? To visit every mainland Coastguard Station in Area 12, stretching from Polzeath to Portishead. The catch? We’re doing it entirely under our own steam. No engines allowed - just a glorious, human-powered triathlon of kayaking, running, and cycling.
The "Why" Behind the Madness
We’re calling it Coasties 50-50. It’s a grueling 50-hour non-stop trek to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Coastguard Association.
It’s the ultimate fitness test meets a collective mid-life crisis, all for an incredible cause. We’ll be:
Paddling our way along the coast.
Running up hills we probably should have cycled.
Pedalling until our legs turn to jelly and our GPS starts questioning our life choices.
We are trading a peaceful weekend for blisters, salt-crusted gear, and the kind of chafing you don’t mention in polite company. Essentially, we are doing for fun what most people would only do if being chased by a predator.
Supporting The Coastguard Association
Every painful pedal stroke and seaweed-covered mile is dedicated to raising vital funds for The Coastguard Association. This fantastic charity provides essential support to those who dedicate their lives to the coast and their families during times of need.
While we might look a bit "weathered" (and several shades of red) by the time we hit Portishead, every uncomfortable minute is worth it to support such a worthy organisation during its 50th year.
Let’s make the suffering count!
