Artist Residency in Norway
Donation protected
I am proud to announce that I will be an artist-in-residence at Kunstnarhuset Messen for the month of June, 2016.
What is an artist's residency and why is it important?
A residency provides an artist with time to explore new work while experiencing life in a new location surrounded by a new community and other artists. This particular location will also provide a sense of isolation from the day-to-day world as it is in a remote part of Norway. Not only will I be in a very different environment, but I will also have the opportunity to expand my network to an international level. This is a large step in any artist's career!
Kunstnarhuset Messen generously provides studio and housing for a mere 50 euros for the month. However, the cost of transportation and food alone is more than I can handle. Norway ain't cheap, folks. On top of this, I will be missing out on my normal income for the month.
My goal is to raise $2,500 in the next month. This covers ground and air transportation and the cost of living. Additional funds raised will be applied to income lost during my residency. Investing in art is great, but investing in artists is even better.
If you look at the incentive levels for this campaign, you'll realize that you are not just donating money - you are buying art. Win-win for everyone!
