**Please note, while we appreciate visitors and you are more than welcome to visit, please ensure not to say anything to him about mom. He is not fully able to comprehend from what I can tell, but if he is, it wouldn’t be fair since he cannot speak. I would like to be the person to tell him when the time comes.**
Hi all,
As you may or may not know our family has experienced tragedy and ultimately our worst nightmare.
Four long and heavy weeks ago, I got a phone call that changed our world forever. My parents, Dave and Cheryl, were involved in a solo motorcycle accident on their way to Cambria, CA for the weekend. They were so excited for this trip to see some of their friends. Due to moms arthritis, they decided to leave AZ a day early to take their time to get there. Around 12:45 PM, the back tire on dads bike blew out.
They both were transported to a trauma 1 center. After three long attempts trying to resuscitate mom, she gained her wings.
Since then, dad has been fighting every single day. He came in with a laceration on his head that required staples. He had brain swelling and a brain bleed in two spots. Cognitive function is still unknown. Numerous broken bones, feeding tube and breathing assistance is still needed. The goal is in the next few weeks to get him home back to Phoenix to be closer to us. Ambulance isn’t an option, as they won’t transport across state line and with his injuries, air transport is the only way. This is not covered by insurance. He will also require long term, specialized care once in Phoenix.
Dads recovery is a long road and any donation is appreciated; even if all you can do is share the story. Sending our many thanks in advance.❤️
