Hi Everyone, We are fundraising for our family dog, Zelda. We don’t want to do this, but we need help for Zelda to get surgery to help save her life. All the money raised will go directly to the vet treating her. Her symptoms will not go away until it’s done.

In May of this year, our family adopted a dog we named Zelda from our local county animal shelter.

About a week later, she wasn’t feeling well, and we were instructed to stop the medication she was on after being spayed. Zelda’s symptoms were vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy. She would get better for about a week and get sick all over again, which has been going on ever since. We have been to numerous vet offices and vet ER hospitals with her, where they would prescribe either new medications or change her diet.

Since May, our vet bills have reached just over $2000. Just this past week, a new symptom started with her breathing heavily while resting that I was able to record on my phone and email to her regular vet. The vet called me first thing yesterday morning and asked us to bring her in immediately for x-rays because her breathing was very concerning, and it was possible that she might have aspiration pneumonia.

Her x-rays ended up diagnosing her with both lungs being collapsed and she was rushed once again to our local pet ER hospital, where they admitted her and informed us that there is fluid around the outside of her lungs. We were then told they needed to do a "chest tap" to test and find out what that fluid is. During this they were able to find that she has a diaphragmatic hernia which we have now learned has been the cause of her symptoms all along and is a congential birth defect as well.

Zelda is only approximately 10 months old and will require surgery that will cost upwards to $8500 to repair.

Our family has always wanted to adopt a shelter dog in need of a loving and forever home. Zelda is a sweet, fun, loving girl, and we want to give her the best. If you can please help us we will forever be grateful.
