Holdfast

My name is Annie and I need help with my property tax this year, until I can enroll the property in a conservation program. This property is a piece of land that my parents bought in the 1950s, and on which they raised me and my siblings.

It's a lovely piece of land - a stony swatch of woods and rocks, with a small mountain in the middle that affords a view up the valley. Mom and Dad always kept it safe from development, treasuring the natural beauty and quiet of the woods. It is the land where Mom came as a child to seek peace and comfort from a troubled household. Dad built the little house here and raised vast gardens that fed us well when I was growing up.

Mom and Dad are gone now, and the property has come to my care. Next year the state is expanding the Current Use program to include land conserved from development, and I plan to enroll in it. But I need to pay my property tax this year which is based on resale value. I cannot let this land fall to the depredation of developers, and I need help. My siblings are all burdened by their own obligations and are in no position to help. $3000 would be an optimal amount, but anything would be a help.
