CF International walk in memory of Bridie Maguire

Hey, my name is Kate Maguire, In September I will be participating in a sponsored walk organized by Cystic Fibrosis to help raise funds and hopefully increase awareness for an incredible charity that do so much good work for a cause that is so close to my heart. This walk is an annual event in the CF fundraising calendar, and this year’s event has been dedicated to the memory of my Nanny, Bridie Maguire, who sadly passed in 2023, and who was a leading figure in CF movement. I hope to raise as much money as possible, which will help CF continue to do the amazing work and provide incredible support to families affected by Cystic Fibrosis.

This year’s International Walk in memory of Bridie Maguire in Slovenia is from Tuesday 16th to Tuesday 23rd September, so please dig deep and help me support this amazing charity.

Bridie Maguire: A Legacy of Hope

In October 2023, we lost Bridie Maguire, the first CEO of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. Driven by the loss of her daughters, Annmarie and Siobhan, to cystic fibrosis, she dedicated her life to fighting the disease. From 1963, she tirelessly raised awareness, funded research, and advocated for those affected.

Bridie's unwavering commitment transformed cystic fibrosis into a treatable condition, impacting countless families. Her legacy is one of hope and progress.

In her honor, we are raising funds for CF to continue her vital work.

Bridie was recognised as "Person of the Year" in 1976 for her dedication to the CF movement

CF was founded in 1963 by Anne O'Dwyer, with Bridie Maguire as its first CEO. They faced a lack of awareness and support for CF in Ireland. Bridie and Anne campaigned tirelessly to improve the lives of those with CF.
