Support a Family in Crisis: Urgent Rent Help

Thank you very much for caring to take the time to read this. I would like to share my family's current situation since we’ve gotten to a point of crisis and are in need of emergency help.

There are 4 of us in our home: my youngest brother (9), my other brother (24), me (25), and our mother.

Two months ago, our entire family contracted Covid-19, which forced us to stop working for two weeks. We (my mother, brother, and I) did not receive paychecks for that time, which caused us to fall behind on the funds we needed to pay our bills.

Covid took a toll on my mother’s heart condition. She was soon forced to leave her job because its physical demands became too much for her to handle in her current state. Around this same time, my brother went through significant personal trauma that left him unable to work.

As a result of everything, my paycheck became our family’s only source of income during this time. We were forced to make difficult decisions about which bills to pay because we could not pay them all. We chose to pay for food and electricity, which caused us to fall increasingly behind on our rent.

While we are now slowly getting back on our feet (my brother started working again), our landlord is giving us until the end of this month (January 31st 2025) to come up with the rent we have fallen behind on. If we don’t come up with this, we will be evicted from our home.

The total amount due is $3,000. After reaching out to many organizations, one told us they would help with the last portion if we could come up with $2,300.

I will have $1,100 saved by the end of the month.

The remaining amount we need by the end of the month (Jan 31th, 2025) is $1,200.

Any help would be truly life-saving. It will allow our family to keep a roof over our heads while we work to get back on our feet.
