Rocky was found struggling down a major street in south San Antonio when Lynda Ramirez kindly loaded him into her vehicle. In our vet's opinion, he was most certainly a bait dog used in illegal dog fighting. He had numerous, deep bites and open wounds around his throat, snout, and eyes. Worse, he had a gunshot wound in his left front shoulder. The bullet and bone fragments will cause him to lose his left foreleg, and he will be taking a number of different antibiotics to help stop any further infection. His adopted family has been struggling to pay medical bills due to 3 heart attacks suffered in the last 9 months by Rocky's new daddy. Those bills are being handled but the cost of Rocky's surgeries and therapy will make it very difficult for them to hold on to their new hero. Through a 48 hour span, Rocky has never stopped wagging his tail and continues to welcome all contact with everyone from his new surroundings. His doctors marvel at his disposition and he has become somewhat of an inspirational figure in his short time in Helotes, Tx.
