Cesar's Brain Tumor Recovery Fund

I wish I didn’t have to write this.

It started with headaches, then pressure, then dizziness, then vomiting . An all too familiar feeling, like a bad memory stuck on replay, of the time my dad was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in 2008.

They say bad things come in 3’s. Well, this time it was 2.

About a month ago we lost my uncle, Jose Luis, to Covid. On the same day my dad got the news of his brothers passing, we found out his tumor had returned, after 13 years of being cancer free. The tumor has grown back in the same place- near the 4th ventricle, pressing against his cerebellum and brainstem. Dr. Marcos, one of the best neurosurgeons in the world, operated on him 13 years ago and will be performing the same procedure. He did what was deemed impossible back then, & today, we are praying for the same outcome.

Surgery is scheduled for May 17th. From there he will need rounds of radiation and round the clock care, and physical therapy as the area of the brain regulates motor movements such as posture, balance, coordination, speech etc. Ependymomas are cancerous forms of brain tumors, accounting for less the  2.7 percent in adults. Due to the rapidity the tumor grew in 3 years there is a good chance it is a higher grade. We won’t know until after the surgery and a biopsy is done.

We are staying positive and grateful for every day we get to spend together as a family.

We have hope that we can fight this and we will do whatever it takes to be a family for as long we can. We are now reaching out to everyone to help us achieve this, by helping us fund treatment and aftercare. Radiation in that area is aggressive and ruthless and it is unknown how long he will be in recovery.

Your contribution, no matter how big or small will go towards the surgery,  immunotherapy treatments, and rehabilitation.

He fought this before. He can fight this again.

My dad is loved. He is strong and he is kind.  He’s been through so much already,  we are clinging onto every bit of hope of a positive outcome and speedy recovery.
