PURPOSE OF THIS FUNDRAISER
In June, 2024, shortly after I moved to Charlotte, NC, I "randomly" met a single Mom at church. "Randomly" the ushers seated us next to each other. I learned that she and her two boys were living in a Salvation Army homeless shelter. Despite this, her joy, energy, and spirit were absolutely contagious. It was easy to discern that this is a woman of strong faith, courage, and determination to overcome many obstacles.

HER STORY
She was very transparent when I asked if she felt comfortable sharing her story with me. It was very difficult to listen to, I can't imagine what it's been like to live through.

She traveled from California to North Carolina to give her two youngest boys a new start, in a better environment. Why NC? She had been following Elevation Church online, and they have multiple campuses in NC! One of their first stops after arriving in NC, was to visit the church and pray about their circumstances.

To escape her situation in CA, sadly she had to make an incredibly difficult decision to leave her two adult sons behind, trusting God's direction that He would make a way for them to join her soon. Finding housing will help her reunite her family!

One of the statements she used to describe the life she & her children escaped from was "a demonic tarp of death, evil, abuse and poverty." The statement was bone-chilling, emotionally difficult to hear, and impossible to relate to.

Now this woman and her amazing boys are in my life. God put them there for a reason. It's inconceivable how she's raised such kind, loving, confident kids under the circumstances they've survived. They're not in denial about their poverty-stricken, homelessness situation - but they still seem to have joy and they have a confident expectation that their lives will turn around. That's living faith to the max.

CURRENT SITUATION
My friend works full time, but she's currently only earning $13/hr.
To get into local housing, she needs money immediately to cover the deposit, plus the 1st & last month's rent to get into an apartment. Without explanation, Salvation Army stopped one of the key resources helping families from her facility. She's back to being on her own to find a home. ****For the record, she had qualified for & was approved for subsidized housing through a program offered by the Salvation Army shelter they're living in. HOWEVER, two weeks before they were supposed to move into their new apartment, she learned that the program funds were insufficient - so they're still stuck in the shelter. I've spoken with one of the Directors at the shelter and my friend's story was confirmed!
***In addition, she's driving a very old vehicle that recently required a new part that is costing her hundreds of dollars. Obviously she needs a reliable car to bring her kids to school and get to work!

YOU CAN HELP
You can help if you want. Every dollar counts. As we approach the holidays, I pray that you'll find it in your heart to donate soon and generously to give this family a blessing like they've never known before.

We thank you in advance.
