Hi Everyone,
Some of you may not be aware that since COVID-19 hit, my mum (Ceri Bishop) has been battling physiological movement issues. We've have been to varing specialist and still continue to search privately and through the NHS. Mum has been diagnosed with Multiple Systems Atrophy (MSA) a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by brain atrophy, meaning the shrinking of nerve cells in various brain regions. We have been told over the past 4 years that mum has had Parkinson's, stroke symptoms, fibromyalgia and many more. As you can imagine it's been an emotional rollercoaster.
Mum recently attended a social event in her wheelchair and a lovely lady came up to her and asked why she was in a wheelchair, mum didn't even have the energy to explain. My dad then took over and explained the situation and the lady was shocked but explained that her friend had similar muscular symptoms from FND. She gave us the details of APEX Neuro specialist near Manchester that use DC electrical current to teach patients how to control the muscles and the connection to the brain.
Mum & Dad set off for Manchester on Monday 19th May 25. The first appointment was to see if there was anything they could do, they ran tests by putting mums feet in water and sent electrical current through the muscles, the connection is then made by movement to the brain. The specialists have managed to make the connections in mums left ankle and foot after one session. There is hope!
The specialist believe they can get mums muscles to work again, however it's going to take 8 weeks of treatment at a large cost.
Family and friends have asked me to set up a go fund me page to help Mum continue the treatment, we're are not sure how long this will go on for or if Mum will require to hire a machine to aid her at home but every penny is gratefully appreciated. If you can help with Mum's treatment we would be hugely greatful ❤️❤️
The treatment will start 28th July, we will keep you updated every step of the way.
Thanks again,
Connie, Ceri and The Family xx
