Immagina la danza classica, neoclassica e contemporanea uscire dai teatri delle grandi città e arrivare tra le persone, tra le famiglie, tra i giovani e gli anziani.
Questo è Cerenzia in Danza.
Non è solo uno spettacolo.
È un atto d’amore verso un territorio, una comunità e un’arte che troppo spesso viene percepita come lontana, elitaria, irraggiungibile.
Il progetto nasce da un sogno semplice ma potente: restituire bellezza, cultura e opportunità a un luogo che raramente viene scelto come centro dell’arte.
Nasce dal desiderio di riportare a casa un’esperienza costruita lontano, per condividerla con chi è rimasto.
Mi chiamo Francesco Nigro, sono nato a Crotone e cresciuto a Cerenzia.
La danza mi ha portato lontano: ho studiato tra Milano e Dresda e oggi lavoro come ballerino professionista in teatro.
Ma il mio cuore è sempre rimasto qui, tra queste strade.
Per questo ho creato Cerenzia in Danza.
Nel 2019 questo sogno è diventato realtà: oltre 3000 persone hanno riempito la piazza, assistendo a un Gala di altissimo livello con artisti internazionali, musica dal vivo ed un’emozione collettiva che ancora oggi vive nei ricordi di chi c’era.
Una serata gratuita, aperta a tutti, capace di unire generazioni, appassionati e semplici curiosi.
Oggi vogliamo far crescere questo sogno.
Vogliamo rendere Cerenzia in Danza un appuntamento stabile, ancora più curato, più ricco, più accessibile.
Vogliamo:
- migliorare la qualità tecnica dello spettacolo
- ospitare nuovi artisti da importanti compagnie di ballo europee
- offrire momenti formativi per i giovani
- coinvolgere ancora di più il territorio
- dimostrare che la grande arte può nascere ovunque
Per una notte, la piazza di Cerenzia diventerà un teatro a cielo aperto.
Un luogo dove la danza incontra la comunità, dove la cultura diventa esperienza condivisa, dove un piccolo paese si trasforma in un centro internazionale di emozione e bellezza.
Ma per rendere tutto questo possibile, abbiamo bisogno anche del tuo aiuto.

Imagine a small village square in Southern Italy that, for one night, transforms into an international stage.
Imagine classical and contemporary dance leaving the great theaters of Europe and arriving among people, families, young students, and entire generations.
This is Cerenzia in Danza.
It is not just a performance.
It is an act of love for a place, a community, and an art form that is too often seen as distant or inaccessible.
My name is Francesco Nigro. I was born in Crotone and grew up in Cerenzia, a small village of fewer than 1,000 inhabitants in Calabria, a region in the south of Italy known for its unspoiled nature and strong traditions.
Cerenzia has deep historical roots. The present village was built in the 19th century, when the population moved from the nearby ancient city of Akerenthia, today an archaeological site overlooking the valley.
Once a thriving town and important religious center for centuries, Akerenthia was gradually abandoned after earthquakes and epidemics. Today, its ruins remain a powerful symbol of the area’s identity.
Despite this rich heritage, Cerenzia lies far from major cultural circuits, and high-level artistic events are extremely rare.
Dance took me far from home. I trained in Milan and Dresden, and today I work as a professional ballet dancer performing on stages across Europe.
But my connection to my hometown has always remained strong.
That is why I created Cerenzia in Danza, to bring international dance back home and share it with my community.
In 2019, this dream became reality: more than 3,000 people filled the main square, experiencing a high-level gala with international artists, live music, and an unforgettable shared emotion.
A free event, open to everyone.
Now we want to grow this dream.
We want to make Cerenzia in Danza a recurring cultural event: bigger, more refined, and even more accessible.
We aim to:
- improve the technical quality of the performance
- invite new international artists
- create educational opportunities for young people
- involve the local community even more
- show that great art can exist anywhere

Mein Name ist Francesco Nigro. Ich wurde in Crotone geboren und bin in Cerenzia aufgewachsen, einem kleinen Dorf mit weniger als 1.000 Einwohnern in Kalabrien im Süden Italiens. Einer Region, die für ihre Natur und ihre starken Traditionen bekannt ist.
Cerenzia hat eine lange Geschichte. Der heutige Ort entstand im 19. Jahrhundert, als die Bevölkerung die nahegelegene antike Stadt Akerenthia verließ, die heute eine archäologische Stätte mit Blick über das Tal ist.
Akerenthia war über Jahrhunderte eine bedeutende Stadt und ein religiöses Zentrum, wurde jedoch nach Erdbeben und Epidemien aufgegeben. Heute stehen ihre Ruinen als Symbol für die Identität der Region.
Trotz dieses reichen Erbes liegt Cerenzia fernab großer kultureller Zentren, und hochkarätige künstlerische Veranstaltungen sind hier sehr selten.
Der Tanz hat mich weit von zu Hause weggeführt. Ich habe in Mailand und Dresden studiert und arbeite heute als professioneller Tänzer.
Doch meine Verbindung zu meiner Heimat ist immer geblieben.
Deshalb habe ich Cerenzia in Danza ins Leben gerufen, um internationale Tanzkunst zurück in mein Dorf zu bringen und mit meiner Gemeinschaft zu teilen.
2019 wurde dieser Traum Wirklichkeit: Über 3.000 Menschen füllten den Dorfplatz und erlebten ein hochkarätiges Gala-Event mit internationalen Künstlern, Live-Musik und einer einzigartigen gemeinsamen Emotion.
Ein kostenloses Event, offen für alle.
Jetzt wollen wir diesen Traum weiter wachsen lassen.
Wir möchten Cerenzia in Danza zu einem festen kulturellen Ereignis machen: größer, hochwertiger und noch zugänglicher.
Unsere Ziele sind:
- die technische Qualität der Aufführung zu verbessern
- neue internationale Künstler einzuladen
- Bildungsangebote für junge Menschen zu schaffen
