Valerie's Fight

Hi everyone. On October 7th, 2020, my mom, Valerie, the woman who eats super clean, drinks over a gallon of water a day, and works out 7+ times a week, was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer. There is zero family history on either side and my mom is not a candidate for breast cancer in any way shape or form. You can imagine the sheer shock to us when we found out. My mom was visibly devastated and scared of course. She was going through the motions for a few days until her wonderful surgeon, Dr. Camal, eased her worries and gave her an excellent prognosis due to early detection. She had a lumpectomy on November 2nd and another surgery on November 23rd. It did not travel to her lymph nodes, thank God, and after a few weeks of healing, she began 20 radiation treatments on December 13th. My mother was laid off from the restaurant around Halloween and she was out for 7 weeks from Costco. She is a source of positivity on any given day, even with a cancer diagnosis. She hasn't missed a beat with the gym and as soon as she went back to Costco on December 16th she also started doing Instacart to remain busy! She never complains. She now, unfortunately, has COVID-19 on top of all of this craziness, but remains upbeat and is always finding something to be grateful for even in the toughest of times. To say she is my hero is an understatement. I would love to help her chip away some of her medical bills and people are constantly asking how to help so I figured making a GoFundMe was the best way. My mom is admired and loved by anyone who is lucky enough to come in contact with her, and I thank you all in advance for helping to put a smile on my mama’s face!
