Like many dance studios, Centralia Ballet Academy had to shut down this spring due to the COVID 19 pandemic.  During this time, we were able to do some online classes to keep engaged with our students.  However, we are very much looking forward to starting back up with in-studio classes this fall and can't wait to see all of our students!!

Centralia Ballet Academy started over 11 years ago and with the mission of giving the families and residents of southwestern Washington state an opportunity to experience classical dance training in a supportive environment.  In addition to their regular classes, students from CBA have been able to experience training from Broadway performers, professional stuntmen, and Cirque du Soleil.  They have also been able to see professional productions and meet the performers from Dance Theatre of Harlem, Oregon Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey, and the casts of Wicked, Billy Elliott and West Side Story.

But even before the virus, CBA was hit with the news that we had to be on the lookout for a new location for the studio.  We did find a new place, but it will take some work to get it ready for our students.  And since we will be rebuilding, we want it to create a place that will far exceed any safety and hygiene standards.

We are also very much aware that many families are struggling financially during this time.  To help with this, owners Nancy and Mickey Gunter have made the decision that the first two monthly sessions of Centralia Ballet Academy's 2020-2021 school year will be tuition free for everyone.  In order to accomplish this, Nancy and Mickey will not take a salary for their work running and teaching at the school, and will only raise money to cover rent, other teacher's pay, insurance, taxes, and other overheard costs.  And while our students will not be paying for those first two months of dance, we will be working with local organizations to have them do a few hours of volunteer work each month to give back to the community.
