2016 Greenwell Springs Flood Relief

My name is Whitney. I was born and raised in Greenwell Springs, La. I currently reside out of state, however, Central is and always will be my home. In a time like this it is extremely heartbreaking and difficult to find out through social media and phone calls the devastation occuring right now and not being able to directly help those affected. Although bad weather and flooding is way of life in Louisiana, the current situation in Central, La is unprecedented.

I am raising money to provide some relief in any way to the families affected. All of the money raised will be sent to local churches and/or relief efforts. Governor Edwards has declared a state of emergency, so state and federal funds should be coming soon. However, as we've seen from the devastation in 2005, Hurricane Katrina, we know of the possible delays in relief efforts from the government. Let's begin immediately to provide relief and assistance to the families who need it NOW.

As I watch my friends and loved ones experience this emergency I only wish I could be there in person to help those in need. Everyone wants to help protect their home and their community. As I am not able to physically get to Louisiana, raising money to assist the efforts is all I can do, in addition to my prayers.

Reaching our financial goal set will truly be a blessing and my hope is that it will bless the community.
