Central Bridge Scholarship 2022

My name is Jacqueline Roman, and I am the president of Central Bridge, A registered student organization at Central Michigan University focuses on cultivating a community for first-generation college students on campus and providing outreach to students currently in high school who will be the first in their families to attend a higher education institution.

 

First-generation college students created this organization for first-generation college students. In Central Bridge, we often discuss the hardships we have endured throughout our higher education journeys as first-generation students within our organization. When you are the first person in your family to do something, you are quite literally taking the road less traveled, and it is not an easy one.

 

We hope to raise at least $1,500 to provide a scholarship to two incoming first-generation first-year students for Fall 2021. We set our goal at $1,500 because we felt that this amount would be able to cover expenses for books and anything they need! Our Goal is to have two different scholarship amounts, $1,000 and $500 for two incoming first-generation first-year students. The $80 is to cover the GoFundMe expenses.  We went over our goal but let's continue donating to give more scholarships for more students!  

 

We all remember what it was like coming into college as a scared freshman, and we would like to be the individuals to ease that transition for others and give back.
