If you have never met Tim, he is the most loveable, enthusiastic, good-humored 23 year old you will ever meet! Tim is also a mentally challenged, developmentally delayed, autistic young man with speech apraxia who is striving for independence socially and vocationally. Despite the fact that Tim's father passed away when he was five and his other challenges, he is constantly inspiring others with his positive attitude and his great love of life and people! However, one of the most difficult things for a special needs individual is to plan for the future. Tim's future would be secured knowing that he has a permanent place in a new group home.
A residential home, which houses 8 individuals with special needs, is currently being developed on a 32 acre campus in Sarasota, FL. Becoming a part of this group home would provide Tim with the independence he strives for with the support of a dedicated staff, which he requires. Tim currently attends the day program on the campus that provides adults with disabilities work experiences to help them learn the skills needed to become fully integrated with their peers.
In order for him to achieve his goal he would need to raise $30,000.00 by January 2015. This money will go directly towards securing his room as well as the construction and furnishings of the new home.
