Celly's unexpected surgery & medical expenses
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,
I’m reaching out today with a heavy heart to share the challenges we’ve been facing with our beloved dog, Celly. Over the past few months, she's had a very rough time, and we could really use your support.
Back in early December, Celly underwent spine surgery for Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), a serious condition that caused her significant pain and hind leg paralysis. We were hopeful that the surgery would help her get back to her normal, happy self, but little did we know that the next few months would bring even more challenges for our sweet girl.
On April 16th, Celly was seen at the vet for an injury caused by “happy tail syndrome” that had occurred weeks prior. After an examination, the vet determined that a complete tail amputation was necessary to prevent the previous partial amputation from leading to necrosis or infection. We brought her home after the surgery, hopeful she would heal quickly and return to her usual self.
However, over Easter weekend, Celly’s condition rapidly worsened. She developed a high fever and started showing neurological symptoms, including wobbly walking and difficulty positioning her paws properly. It was heartbreaking to see her in such distress. We rushed her to the hospital on April 23rd, where the surgeon informed us that she had developed a severe, life-threatening infection that had spread to her spinal cord, explaining the neurological issues.
Celly is now hospitalized and undergoing multiple surgeries to clean the infected areas and flush the surgical site. She will be staying in the hospital for at least five days, and we are doing everything we can to help her through this incredibly challenging time.
This has been an emotionally and financially draining experience for my husband, Austin, and me. To make matters even more overwhelming, I was unexpectedly laid off from my job on April 22nd, just one day before Celly’s hospitalization, which has only added to the stress and anxiety of this already heartbreaking situation.
We are graciously asking for your support, whether it’s through a donation, sharing Celly’s story with others who might be able to help, or simply sending her positive thoughts and good vibes. 100% of any contribution, big or small, will go directly toward Celly’s medical bills and the ongoing care she needs.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for being part of our lives during this incredibly challenging time. We are deeply grateful for any love, support, or prayers you can offer.
With love and gratitude,
Meagan, Austin, and Celly
