A Cellist in Need

Hi! My name is Matt Holmes, and I am an artist in Dallas looking to purchase a cello. 

I started playing cello in fourth grade (the cello was bigger than I was at the time) - I committed myself to being an orch dork and after renting a cello for six years I was matched with the love of my life: Luna

I carried her from Iowa to college in Oklahoma, and eventually brought her to Dallas - where I currently reside. Though I'm not a concert cellist, I've played Luna on stage for plays, at events for art galleries, at church services, for a friend's wedding, and have started teaching lessons. 

Unfortunately, on April 28th, 2017 Luna met her end in a tragic and unexpected way. This accident left her irreparably damaged - and left a cello sized hole in my heart. 

After a period of mourning, I've decided that Luna wouldn't want me to stop my cello career because of this gruesome accident - so I'm in the market for a new cello. Unfortunately, I'm also an artist and I couldn't imagine ever having to replace Luna, so my bank account was less than prepared for this tragedy - which is why I came here. Throughout my career as an actor and through my cello endeavours, the city of Dallas and it's artistic community have given me endless opportunities to thrive as an artist. I hope to raise funds for a new cello so that I may continue to provide my music and talents.

I'm looking to replace Luna with an Andreas Eastman VC305, an intermediate level cello,  which goes for around $3500 at the local music shop. My insurance on Luna will cover part of the cost, but I need a little extra help to cover the rest.
