I was admitted to the hospital 3 times for Sepsis, blood poisoning. I had it October 9, 2016 and stayed in the hospital for a week.   I got it again on November 11, 2016 and stayed another week. Then the third strike happened on New Years Eve Dec 31 and had to stay again for one more week.   The infectious disease specialist decided to do more in depth testing to find out why I had repeated sepsis episodes.  Sepsis is caused by streptococcus bacteremia or staph bacteria that gets into the blood stream.  I happened to get the streptococcus kind and it got into my bloodstream.  So this smart Dr. decided to do additional testing for the IgG and IgA immunoglobulins and found out that I was extremely low, my numbers were 108 and .5 and the normal should be 700 to 1600 for a healthy person.  I do not have a spleen as well so my susceptibility of dying and getting chronic diseases and infections are much higher.   I was referred to an Immunologist at the University of Utah who identified that I had a disease called CVID (common variable immune deficiency) which means I lack the B cells to fight off infections.   I will need plasma infusions every 3 weeks and the amount is $5000 each.  I do have insurance, but I will have to meet the out of pocket expenses which is $7800.  The reason it is so expensive is because it takes 100 people to make one bag of donated plasma.  So if anyone is willing to help contribute to the medical fund or to donate plasma it would be a tremendous help and blessing!  When you donate plasma you are helping save a life such as in my situation!  My husband has been donating plasma for over a year, but that was before we knew what happened with me.   Now he says donating plasma is so much more meaningful to him and he knows this  can help his wife get better.  You can donate plasma for a great cause at the Biomat Roy Center.  When you do you can mention my husbands name and the referral contribution will be applied to my medical expenses.  I appreciate any and all help in any way.
