Prior to October 2020, Celeste was working full time as an international purchasing agent and loved her job, her boss, and all of the people she worked with. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved spending time with her family and friends.
She knew she was getting sick the first week in October. She was admitted into the hospital where they diagnosed her with double pneumonia. They tested her for Covid, and it was positive. A few days later, she was also suffering from sepsis (a potentially life-threatening condition that occurs when the body's response to an infection damages its own tissues). At this point, Celeste was put in a medically induced coma. While she was in her coma, she received 3rd-degree burns from an unattended heating pad and was sent by helicopter to a burn center, where she had 3 skin graft surgeries. She did not come out of the coma until the first week of December.
Celeste was then moved to a respiratory hospital for about 6 weeks. She then spent 2 months at a rehab center to learn to sit, stand up, walk, etc. Celeste has been home now since March 17th. She has to have 24/7 in-home care, which is not covered by her insurance.
Due to these severe health issues, Celeste is not able to return to work. She also is not able to keep up with her house, and these incurred expenses. This GoFundMe account is to help her cover the 24/7 care, and the moving expenses to move in with her sister across the country, in Utah.
Throughout all of these trials and tribulations, Celeste has had many spiritual experiences, and she knows she has drawn closer to her Heavenly Father. and her Savior, Jesus Christ. She does not know why she lived through this, yet knows it is her mission to share her faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ with all.
