Celebration Out Of Concern For Dorothea

Hello this is Michael Fuller, Dorothea's dear friend of nearly 20 years. I know some of you know me through communications & others only know me by reputation. Her birthday is exactly one week away & when I asked if she would like to send an invite out for a virtual birthday party as in years past, her response was, "I do not know if I will make it to the 27th, Amelia."

Most of you, like me, have known Dorothea for over 20 years. She is thoughtful, funny, cultured and intellectual. That picture above is the best way I know how to depict the Dorothea, I once knew. She is also incredibly proud & does not share when she is going through a very difficult time. I fear she will lose her home.

What I am about to share with you is confidential & she'd kill me if she knew I was doing this. Dorothea is going through an extremely difficult time. After the loss of every living family member in 2020 (12 people), she was diagnosed with Diabetes. On March 7th she was the victim of a hit and run accident that wiped out her bank account and she is still dealing with the pain of that accident and the financial turmoil it has caused. Add to that the ending of an on & off-again relationship with an abusive man who left her home in shambles & nearly bankrupted her.

Those of you who are receiving this fundraising request because you are listed on her "respected and loved friends list". I know what you are thinking..you may have been receipt of birthday cards, housewarming, wedding, baby and congratulations cards and gifts. And some of you, her lovely and thoughtful postcards from her travels.

For now, I am keeping this hush hush, until I can share the good news with her.
