On August 6th, 2022, Scott Stimac—beloved father, son, friend and musician—passed away after a year-long battle with cancer.

We—a group of Scott’s closest friends—are raising money to help pay for a memorial gathering and related costs.

Your donations will be used to fund a “celebration of life” memorial scheduled for September 11th. This party will be a day-long event. The first part, an outdoor family-friendly event, will be held at the Pink Flamingo (in Corktown, Detroit), followed immediately by a meetup at The Marble Bar just a few miles away, also in Detroit. Our costs include location rental fees, tables & tents, food & refreshments, photo printing costs and compensation for the staff from both locations.

We expect to spend around $4,000. Any donations received that exceed our expenses will be distributed to a trust fund that is being prepared for Scott’s 13-year-old daughter. Judy Stimac, Scott’s mom, will be able to review transactions and determine how the money for the trust is distributed.

Shine a Light: A Celebration of Scott Stimac will be held on Sunday, September 11th, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at The Pink Flamingo 2746 Vermont St, Detroit, MI 48216.

The after-memorial meetup will be at The Marble Bar 1501 Holden St, Detroit, MI 48208.

Thank you to everyone who has inquired about a gathering for Scott and offered to help. We plan to make announcements if/when we need additional support to keep the events running smoothly.

*A few additional details*

+ We're assembling a book of memories of Scott. If you would like to participate, please bring hand- or type-written text on paper. The pages will be made into a book, along with photos, and copies will be made available this autumn.

+ Plenty of street parking is available at the Pink Flamingo in Corktown. There's also parking available around the Marble Bar.
