Hi, my name is Leila. I am appealing to well wishers to fundraise for my friend Emma Wesonga's funeral and memorial.

Emma was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer on May 10th, 2023 and she sadly passed away at the St. Catharines General Hospital at midnight June 20th, 2023.

Emma was a nurse from Kenya and immigrated to Canada in 2018. She was a frontline worker during the Covid19 pandemic and worked tirelessly to save the lives of others, she even battled the disease herself and went through the healing process without her family by her side.

She was a loving mother, wife, sister and friend. She was indeed a true treasure to anyone who met and interacted with her.

Emma was the sole bread winner in her family and withstood numerous challenges before being able to bring her two youngest children over to Canada in 2022. She is survived by her two sons and daughter. Her youngest son is only 16 and in Grade 12. Her oldest child, Ibrahim just recently arrived in Canada on May 30th to care for his ailing mother. We are now humbly asking the community to assist us in raising funds to repatriate her body back to her motherland Kenya so we can give her a befitting farewell and lay her to rest. We will also use part of the funds to support her children here in Canada as they start to navigate life without their mother.
