Celebration of life for Steve Freeman

Memorial Fund for Steve Freeman (March 2, 1954-December 26,2022) and Update on his Partner Madonna Schroeder

My name is Tyler, and I am creating this on behalf of the Schroeder family in order to help with the Celebration of Life service that will be held for Steve when the weather gets warmer. Some of you know, but on June 11 of last year, (2022) mom and Steve’s life changed forever. He was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and by the time they got to it, it had metastasized to his liver and kidney. He was actively receiving chemo and seemed to be keeping it under control. Steve lost his battle to cancer on 12/26/2022 while Madonna was in a different hospital fighting her own cancer.

Donations made here will go directly to the Schroeder family (Mom) to not only cover funeral costs but any other expenses that arise for the family or her in the coming months, and allow her/them to grieve without the burden of financial stress.

With mom caring for Steve and working full-time she noticed she wasn’t feeling the best but didn’t pay much mind until her brothers told her she WAS going to the doctor or else! This was her cue to either go in or they would drag her in. So on November 30, 2022 she called 911 as she was too weak to drive to the hospital, nor could she get out of her bathroom, (she was malnourished and dehydrated) and they came and drove her to St. Francis. From there she’s had a stay at Methodist, and as of today still, the University of Minnesota with a diagnosis of colon cancer which required surgery on her bowels (temporary colostomy bag) and chemo starting early next month as they found a huge mass on her abdominal wall.

It has been a very short but painful time and we ask that you keep my mom in your thoughts and prayers. More information regarding Steve’s celebration of life will follow at a later date.
