Celebration & Medical bills for Sally Black

Donation protected
We have set up this GoFundMe in honor of Sally Jean Black, formally Sally Jean Tabor to help the family with medical bills and the cost of the celebration.
Sally was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of ALS known as Progressive Bulgar Palsy. ALS is a rare neurological disease that mainly involves the nerve cells responsible for controlling
voluntary muscle movement. Voluntary muscles produce movements like chewing, walking, and talking.
The disease is progressive, meaning the symptoms get worse over time. Currently, there is no cure for ALS and no effective treatment to halt or reverse the progression of the disease.
ALS eventually leads to the deterioration and death of motor neurons. After fighting symptoms since November of 2018, Sally received her diagnosis in March the following year. Her specialists gave her a short 18 months to live. Sally refused to accept that answer and fought for three long years until she was called to heaven just a few days short of her 61st birthday in March 2022. As a lifetime resident of Central Oregon, Sally worked a diligent 14 years with Habitat for Humanity. She spent countless hours helping her community, building much needed housing for those in need, often traveling to other countries to spread her gift and supply people with homes when often times they didn’t even have clean water to drink. Sally’s memory lives on through her husband, three children, and four grandchildren. ‘To know her was to love her’ are words that come to mind if you ask anyone who was fortunate enough to get to know Sally. She is the true meaning of selflessness, positivity, strength and kindness. With a heart of gold, she fought the fight that nobody could even fathom, a smile on her face the entire time. She wouldn’t be defeated or let her ailments slow her down. Life is short, and you don’t often meet people as pure as Sally. With her recent passing, Sally’s family has planned a celebration of life to honor her. Along with continuous medical bills, such an event can be very costly. Sally touched so many people, not just in our community. Upwards of 400 people will be expected to attend this event to show their love and appreciation to Sally and her family. This event will be held on July 9th at K&K Garden View Estates from 11-4pm. Any contribution will help this family with the cremation costs, medical bills and celebration costs. All support is very appreciated. As we all know, every bit counts and we are so lucky to live in such a giving community. We encourage you to come help celebrate the life of a wonderful woman, cherished by all. Thank you for taking a moment to learn a bit about Sally and to consider any amount of donation in her name. Sally will always be our angel!
