James & Linda Catomer, 72 and 62, passed away on April 2nd and April 29th, 2021 at Northwest Community Hospital. Jim was born on August 30th, 1948 in Chicago, IL. He attended Lane Tech High School. Jim worked as a postal worker until the age of 47 when he suffered a massive stroke. Before his stroke, Jim lived a very active lifestyle. He played baseball, softball, basketball, football, golf, and was in several bowling leagues. If you knew Jim, you knew his love for America’s favorite pastime, baseball. He was a loving father and his passion for the game was passed on to his two sons. Their most cherished childhood memories all took place on a ball field.
Linda was born on March 7th, 1959 in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Roosevelt High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and the color guard. She attended Michigan State University but later finished her degree at ITT Technical Institute. Linda was a devoted wife and mother whose strength held their family together after Jim’s devastating stroke. Her relentless hard work and countless sacrifices pulled their family through the toughest of times. Linda was extremely proud of her accomplishments in her career. She ran her own business, Dedicated Secretarial Services, for over 20 years while also working for other companies. Linda’s current employer was Phase 3 Advisory Services.
James and Linda are survived by their two sons, Joseph (Samantha) and Thomas (Amanda); two granddaughters, Avery and Kaylyn; two grandsons, Luke and Thomas Jr. James is survived by one sister, Diane; and two brothers, John and Frank. Linda is survived by her mother, Adele Ericson; and two sisters, Laura (Mike) Zalinger and Leann (Jeff) Johnson. James was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Rae; and stepmother, Metta.
