Celebration of Life - Chris McKay
Donation protected
Our beloved Christopher McKay was a beautiful, loving, and big-hearted soul. At the young age of 22, he lost his battle with depression and took his own life April 4th, 2020. He is survived by his immediate family, mother Jennifer, father Clifton, sister Caitlin, and brother Cameron. Clifton’s parents Gary and Rose Tackett, along with his girlfriend Lena, and her three children. We all will miss him with all our hearts, but he will forever live on in our memories.
Chris was a hard worker, caring, and always had a smile on his face that could just warm your heart. He was selfless, had an intense love for dogs, sometimes more than humans, and an amazing sense of humor. He touched the lives of many and to lose him in such a way, is an absolute shock and tragedy that will haunt us all forever. He was growing into a successful young man with plans for his future. He was a son, brother, friend, and family member.
For our family/friends, losing Chris so quickly and unexpectedly has left us in absolute shock and despair. His life was stolen from us and we are left to pick up the pieces and find a “new” normal in life without his beautiful face.
Through this fundraiser, we not only want to support our family with helping with expenses but bring light to the suicide epidemic that our world is in as well. Suicide is a permanent decision often made because of a temporary problem that has lifelong devastating outcomes that ripple across our society. The pain of this loss is so indescribable, the unanswered questions, the agony of reality that we will never hear his voice, or see his smile again is so surreal.
There is another Go Fund Me that was setup by a classmate in Kentucky Zachary Tacket in hopes to raise money for funeral expenses as well. Sorry for any confusion.
Jennifer is only allowed 3 days of paid Bereavement and will need more time than that to cope with this tragic loss. We are raising funds to help support the costs of the funeral, airfare to get Caitlin here from Kentucky, and to help Jennifer survive for a little while as she learns to cope and handle the “new” normal that all of our lives will become.
We would appreciate if you could share this page with the hope that Jennifer’s story is seen with compassion, understanding and abundant generosity. Also, we want to share a few websites and hotlines to use in case you are suffering from depression yourself. We hope to this page reaches someone who may be feeling like there is no hope and let them know there are resources. There are people who love you and will help you through tough times. It does not mean you are weak; it means you are stronger than EVER by asking for help. Your life has value, it has meaning, and purpose. Please speak to someone who can help navigate you through the darkest moments in your life.
