A King Called to God's Kingdom
We are celebrating Charles Grant who was the ultimate husband, father and man who passionately lived life to the fullest. On December 3, 1954 he brought a strong presence to the world in Jamaica. He grew up in Bahamas, experiencing an adventurous time on the beaches, learning various crafts in banking, fishing, shipbuilding and playing the guitar. After his teenage years, he met his wife Shirley and emigrated to the United States to seek greater opportunities.
In America, he moved to Maryland where he would settle down and start a beautiful family of five children built on strong Christian values and traditions. He lived a beautiful family life, taking pride in being the man of the house -- whether it was through his tireless work ethic at his jobs, maintaining the yard, building patios from scratch, playing the guitar in front of the family, or having large-scale family barbecues at the local park. These memories created a tight-knit family bond that empowered everyone at home to grow from children into wonderful adults. While having a fulfilling family life, Charles also left his impact on those he touched in society with his principles he strongly stood for.
As strong as his presence was, unfortunately Charles battled numerous health ailments including diabetes and hypertension, hernia and kidney failure. The doctors noted at his last visit he was the sickest patient at the hospital. Nonetheless, Charles as a natural fighter never let them bother him or hinder his ability to passionately fulfill his mission as a provider for his family or to change how he lived. Charles was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2017 and fought the strongest battle that any one person can face and was called by the Lord our creator to rest on October 12, 2019 in Rockville, MD. He passionately fought through so many doctor's visits, painful treatments, the doubts physicians cast with their prognosis and the obvious suffering from his symptoms.
We are immediately looking for any kind of financial assistance as our family have accumulated exorbitant medical and expenses throughout the years. We will be facing contractual obligations for the funeral this week and need up to $10,000 for short-term expenses for the funeral and $50,000 towards long-term expenses for the upcoming medical expenses that accumulated due to emergency room visits, dialysis, nursing home expenses, hundreds of doctors appointments attended, body scans, chemotherapy, and etc. Charles unfortunately lost his savings and life insurance at his job with minimal assets to finance the large upcoming debts. He has been unable to acquire a life insurance policy from any insurer due to his terminal health conditions. Unfortunately, this is how the system works.
We hope that you will donate with the same spirit Charles fulfilled life for himself, family and others to finance these expenses. Charles' widow, Shirley will take charge of the donations to cover the funeral and medical expenses. Any help will greatly reduce the significant burden placed on our family going through this difficult time. Please pray and keep us in your thoughts, but at the same time we should celebrate the achievements Charles had and the legacy he will leave on this Earth forever.
Thank you & God Bless
