Wookie was more than just a friend—he was the cornerstone of our community. Known and loved by so many, he had a gruff exterior but a heart overflowing with kindness and love. Always willing to lend a hand, even if it came with an occasional grumble, Wookie was also the truest, most passionate Buccaneers fan you could find. Seventeen years in Denali he became a constant presence in Healy over the last few years, and his spirit will continue to be with us on every trip for many years to come. Wookie’s love for his friends and the people around him was unmatched. He was the "Mr. Fix-It" at New Wave Adventures—whose dedicated support and belief in our dream made him an essential part of every adventure. He had an incredible ability to truly listen, offering his wisdom and laughter in equal measure. His love of music an utterly unique mix of genres he shared in a van ride or gear room or if it was his cook night, along with his own talent as a musician, were just a few of the ways he brought joy to our lives. Whether it was his incredible smile, laughter, stories, or those dance moves.

His contributions and his unshakable loyalty were woven into every moment we shared over the years. Wookie's impact on our lives can't be measured in words, but his memory will live on in every raft we paddle, the parking lot at Vitus, the banks of the river, and countless other places that remind us of him.

This GoFundMe has been created to support Wookie’s family with travel expenses, a celebration of life, and any other costs that need to be covered.
