William R. W. Douglas Jr (Ray), beloved husband of Nicole Johnson-Douglas, father of Rayah and Rayghan, and father to Aniya and many other children of the community, left this world on May 19th, 2021. He passed away due to complications from Diabetes and Heart Disease, and was surrounded by his loving family.
Ray was a true beacon of light, and his presence will be missed beyond measure. Ray was in a community with so many groups of people, his large extended family, the Alpha Phi Alpha brotherhood, the PAVE (Parents Amplifying Voices in Education) family, and the Ward 5 and broader DC community. He was an ordained Elder in the AME Zion Church and former Pastor, and centered faith in all aspects of his life. All who knew Ray are heartbroken at this loss, but we know that his indelible positivity, quiet but powerful strength, and infectious laugh and smile will live on through his children and as we share memories of him while he was still with us.
Nicole and her family are all extremely grateful for the outpouring of kind words, prayers, and support for her and her family during this time. For those that are interested, all contributions offered will go towards supporting Nicole and the kids’ future as they continue their journey to honor Ray, grieve and heal from this loss, and live out a life we know will make Ray proud.
