Celebrating the life of Tyler Cox
Hey everyone,
Cam Morton here.
I write to you all with a heavy... broken heart. We've lost a very near and dear member of our Family/Community/NE Film Family.
Tyler Cox was a phenomenal one of a kind human being who's soul goal in life was to bring happiness to those around him... even when driving them crazy sometimes. He was a loving Grandson/Nephew/and above all Son to his wonderful family of whom I'm writing this for currently.
A diehard New Englander. An out of this world talented filmmaker. The best friend anyone could possibly ask for.
When I offered to set this fundraiser up with his family there was always an understandable forefront from them as to what was most important.
If you know Tyler, you may know that he had been battling with substance abuse for quite a while now. A battle he unfortunately could not win as is the case with so many that face this problem day in and day out in our communities. While all of this is hard to type out in general, this aspect is quite possibly the toughest. Because Tyler didn't let it DEFINE who he was. Yes; he had some very high highs and some very low lows, but at the end of the day he was still there for everyone else. I don't know how he was able to care so much for literally everyone around him at all times. Sometimes I don't think HE even knew but that never stopped him. He was... more than any of us deserved. I know for a fact theres quite a few of us that have been there when his substance abuse issues have grabbed hold of him and I know even more of us that have been there to help him through those moments. He appreciated those people more than I think most people know. Unfortunately for Tyler and for all of us, it wasn't enough to stop the tragedy of his passing on July 29th, 2021. However knowing Tyler... he wouldn't want us to mourn (Sorry T you don't get a say in that part) but he would want us to love each other and help those who still need help.
I’m excited to share this edited version of the original post to announce the news below.
***ALL DONATIONS TO THIS FUNDRAISER WILL NOW BE GOING TOWARDS A NEW FOUNDATION THAT IS BEING BUILT BY THE FAMILY***
“THE TYLER PROJECT” More details to follow but the overwhelming love and support this fundraiser has generated was clear and present to all to do something very important with it.
Service will be held at Brasco Funeral Home from 1P-3P on Saturday August 7th, 2021
773 Moody Street
Waltham MA
02453
Of course we want to celebrate Tyler’s life and we will but the possibility of a house for everyone to gather for a week just wasn’t currently possible and the almost unbelievable response to the fundraiser spawned something even greater. So thank you to everyone for all the love and support and we look forward to keeping you updated as to what the Tyler Project holds for the future.
Much love. Be safe. Be kind to each other and yourselves, and be true.
