Teresa Chow, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. She was born to the late Rose and Joseph Chow in Xuzhou, China. After immigrating to the United States in 1962 with her parents, and siblings, Margaret, Thomas, and late brother Dicky, she met and married Raymond Chow in San Francisco. Teresa worked hard to earn a Bachelors in Nursing followed by a Masters in Education Dual Language from the University of San Francisco while also being mother to her first three children who were all under the age of five. She worked passionately as a public health nurse, performing home visits to new parents to teach them how to care for newborns. After the family relocated to Oklahoma City, she had her fourth child and became a full-time mother to Kevin, Elaine, Jesse, and Christie while volunteering extensively with the Chinese church. She loved to sing in choir and garden. She was an avid sudoku player. She eagerly awaited times that she could spend with family: her siblings Margaret and Thomas, her husband Raymond her four children, and her four grandchildren Emi, Kenzo, Theo, and Amalia.
Teresa bravely battled liver disease for the last five years. After a long wait, she was approved for a liver transplant in November 2019, and matched with a donor in April 2020. She did not survive the surgery.
Out of gratitude for the excellent and compassionate medical care that Teresa consistently received, her family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Liver Foundation. The mission of the American Liver Foundation is to promote education, advocacy, support services and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease.
