Celebrating the Life of Suada Serdarević

Our beloved Suada recently passed on January 30th, 2025. Suada was a wonderful mother, wife, and friend who touched all the lives of those around her. The passing of Suada leaves behind her husband Suad, her daughter Alma, her son Almir, her grandchildren Amira and Jakob, and her son in-law Josh.

Suada dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family and helping children in her community through her long career as an educator in Poway Unified School District. Suada endured and overcame many significant events in her life. She was a survivor of the Yugoslavian collapse and Bosniak genocide. She and her son joined her husband in moving to America to begin a new life. After mastering fluency in English and working in the local school district, she transitioned to special education care. Suada loved all of the children she worked with as if they were her own, and did everything humanly possible to protect, nurture, and educate. Suada will be remembered by her heart of gold, willingness to help anyone in need, and her resilience in times of hardship. Her legacy will live on in her family, friends, and community.

We are all devastated by Suada's untimely passing and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service and emergency hospital services. We want to give Suada the memorial she deserves, to honor her memory, and say our last goodbyes. Suada dreamed of living her twilight years in her home country of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Unfortunately, that was not in God's plan. However, her family will ensure her final resting place will be in the cemetery of her hometown in Bosnia, next to her mother and father.

We are currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of Suada's funeral. Estimates from the funeral and hospitals have not been finalized but are expected to be in excess of $20,000.

Please consider donating, as any amount will truly help our family during this difficult time.

Thank you so much and please remember to live life to the fullest,
Suad, Alma, Almir, Josh, Amira & Jakob
