My auntie, Patricia Collar was a woman beloved by many. A devoted mother to four children, grandmother to nineteen, and great grandmother to twenty-five - what a legacy. Pat was a lover of humanity. She protected and helped many stray kids throughout her lifetime, including me. Pat accepted people exactly as they were, never judging, and was incapable of holding a grudge, even when it would have been to her benefit. She stepped up to serve our family with purpose and pride in so many ways over the years, never asking for a thing for herself. Her grandkids will tell you that Grandma Pat was the most fun, silly and caring person. She always showed up fully herself, made some noise, laughed and danced, filling every room with life. She modeled how to love freely, forgive easily, and always see the best in people and the world. Her love was so big that each of us knew we were her favorite.
The loss of our family’s matriarch has been heartbreaking. Pat’s presence is irreplaceable, and her absence is felt deeply by all who knew and loved her. We have been deeply touched by the outpouring of love from those who cherished Pat and have asked how they might help honor her. Donations will be used to create a Celebration of Life that truly reflects who Pat was, allowing family and friends to gather, remember, and say goodbye together, on a date to be determined.
All donated funds will be managed by Patricia’s daughters. Thank you.
