My sweet, hilarious, giant-hearted dad went out to buy milk and bagels for us last Sunday, when he collapsed and had a stroke in Stop and Shop. He was rushed to Montefiore Hospital, where he was intubated and placed on a ventilator. We learned he was bleeding from his brain stem, which is the most detrimental and life-threatening place to bleed from. Due to the nature of the injury, surgery was not an option. We are now on day 10 of this ordeal and the Dr's have informed us that he is no longer responding to pain and his body is deteriorating. We are planning to peacefully let him go later this week and hope he can continue to bring his love, sense of humor, generosity, and magic to others... wherever his soul goes next.
He leaves behind a wife and three daughters whom he dedicated his entire life to. He was the most selfless, patient man whose capacity to listen and care was unparalleled by anyone I know. He will be so deeply missed, and he was so deeply loved. He truly was a friend to all, the most amazing cook and girl-dad anyone could ever ask for.
