Our beloved Marcus “Marky” O’Brie, born on June 9, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, peacefully passed away on October 6, 2025, in Midland, Michigan, due to medical complications.

Marcus spent his early years in Chicago before moving to Detroit, Michigan, in 1975 with his siblings, under the loving care of his eldest sister, Betty Taylor-Woods, after the passing of their mother. He graduated from Henry Ford High School and developed a lifelong love for music, especially playing the flute and visiting Jazz City, where he found peace and joy through melody.

After high school, Marcus proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Boston, Massachusetts, and later began a long career with Chrysler, where he worked for over 20 years. Known for his kindness and gentle spirit, Marcus also served as an Alcoholics Anonymous spokesperson, traveling to different states and countries to share his story and inspire hope in others.

Marcus will be remembered for his loving heart, sense of humor, and deep love for family. He was happiest when surrounded by those he loved and everyone knew no meal was complete for him without a little ketchup.

Marcus was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Taylor-O’Brie and Paul O’Brie, and his brother Stewart “Butch” Taylor. He leaves behind his siblings Betty Taylor-Woods, Sasso “Cecil” O’Brie, and Ramona “Mona” O’Brie, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

The family plans for Marcus to be cremated and taken home to Chicago to rest alongside his mother. We are creating this GoFundMe to help cover cremation, travel, and celebration of life expenses so that all who loved him can honor his life together.
