"Daddy, does your back hurt?" "No, son."
"Daddy, does your leg hurt?" "No, son."
"Daddy, does your arm hurt?" "No, son."
"Then, where hurts Daddy? You mean nowhere hurts?"
John’s father could only respond “No” as his 3-year-old son described the pain he was suffering in his little body. John would soon be diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia, a blood disorder where red blood cells contort into a sickle shape causing frequent bouts of fatigue, infection, pain, crises and hospitalizations.
John was told he would not live past his teen years - BUT God had another plan!
In his lifetime, he impacted innumerable people. One of his childhood best friends commented: "God used John to change my life. My life was a mess. We did a lot of bad things together. Then, I saw John’s life change – something supernatural happened. John told me I needed the same thing. Now, as a missionary pastor in Mexico... I am forever grateful for his influence." The words of another childhood friend echo the words of many who knew John: “God used this man to be an incredible example to me. I love him like my brother and will miss him tremendously.”
John had a stroke at the age of 24 and was in and out of the hospital well over 300 times during the course of his life. Ironically enough, in spite of his condition, John loved being a phlebotomist and medical assistant. He was quite good at it, having graduated in the top one percent (1%) of his class. God called John home on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 as a man in his fifties. In addition to sickle cell anemia, John had several other health challenges and was uninsurable. It has not been easy and now we desperately need your help to give this mighty Warrior for Christ a proper burial. To this end, we ask for your assistance by aiding us with any contributions you are willing to give.
God is faithful and He will do it (1 Thess. 5:24). Perhaps He wants to use you.
Thank you in advance for being a part of the legacy of John A. Sutherland II by giving today.
