We first want to say thank you to everyone for all the love and support. Our entire family is very grateful for helping us through these tough times. Coach Gio would be proud to know how blessed we are to have friends and family like you in our lives.

Coach Gio, formally known as Giovanni Paul Pierce was an amazing Dad to 5 kids, devoted Husband to Linda and loyal friend to many. Even though you can catch him napping anywhere and everywhere, Gio was so hardworking and just full of life. He always had words of advice or a helping hand to anyone who needed it. And you can catch him always smiling, dancing or even trying to rap just to make others around crack a smile. He definitely could fill a whole room with laughter as he had a way with making anyone laugh from his jokes no matter how corny they were.
Not everyone knew through his lively energy, but our dad was fighting stage IV colon cancer for a little over 2 years. From then he was going through all the necessary treatment while continuing to work. He never stopped working, because he didn't want his situation to become a financial burden to anyone but himself-- Plus he was stubborn as hell, and refused help anyways.
Throughout his treatments, he continued to stay optimistic and live each day as normal as possible. His number one priority and his motivation was his family and ensuring that he would do everything to take care of them and spend as much time with family and friends as much as he could.
Treatments for the cancer were going so well, that they were even going to change up his regiment! But unfortunately, he had a new battle to tackle and became hospitalized due to COVID on Sunday, January 31st 2021. He did his best each day while in the hospital. He tried to keep his spirits up, video called us whenever he could, and always texted us “I love you’s” and “goodnights”. On Saturday night February 6th at the age of 50yrs old, we as a family decided to withdraw care from the ventilator due to the virus causing so much other complications and finally let him rest. He never wanted to be on life support so we respected his wishes up until the very end.
Although my Father worked hard throughout all of this, his untimely passing leaves behind medical and funeral expenses that we wished could be covered by our family alone. Many understand, these are things you are never fully prepared for. All the donations will go towards our mom Linda who will be able to handle those expenses.
Thank you from Linda, his wife, and all five kids Nikko, Nathaniel, Naven, Neela, and Nessa.
This ones for you dad.
