Celebrating the Life of Roberto Nerey Chavez: A Legacy of Kindness and Hard Work
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Roberto Nerey Chavez, born on April 26, 1952, in Jalisco, Mexico, and who passed on December 5, 2025. Roberto lived a life defined by perseverance, integrity, and kindness, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Roberto came to the United States in 1969, beginning his journey with very little but an extraordinary determination to work and build a better life. His first job was at a Christmas tree farm, where he lived in a shack made of cardboard. From there, he worked as a dishwasher, then at a cable company, and eventually dedicated 35 years of his life to Independent Concrete Cutting, where he recently retired. Roberto was known for his extreme work ethic—he was always early, never called out sick, and gave his all every single day.
Beyond his work, Roberto was a devoted husband to Lisa Chavez, a loving father to two daughters, a proud grandfather, and a great-grandfather. Family meant everything to him. In his free time, Roberto found joy in bike riding, walking his dog, gardening, and making what many would argue was the best salsa you could ever taste.
What truly set Roberto apart was his heart. Outside of work, he was one of the kindest people you would ever meet. He would drop anything he was doing to help someone—unless he was already helping someone else. And once he finished, he would make sure to get to the next person. Helping others was simply who he was.
Anyone who knew Roberto understands that this fundraiser represents more than a single purpose. The funds will be used with intention, love, and respect, in ways that reflect the man Roberto was and the good he always sought to do. This includes celebrating his life, supporting his loved ones during this difficult time, and continuing the kind of generosity and care Roberto showed to everyone around him.
Knowing Roberto since I could barely walk, and having worked alongside him before I could even drive a car, I am confident that any support given here will be used in a way he would fully approve of. This GoFundMe exists to honor his legacy—one built on hard work, humility, and selfless kindness. Thank you for your love, support, and prayers as we remember and celebrate the life of Roberto Nerey Chavez.
