Celebrating Our Mother's Life and Faith

Our mother was born on 9/6/1953 and passed away on 7/29/2025. She was 72 years old. Due to a spinal cord fracture and a blood infection, the doctors couldn't determine the cause. From there, her health rapidly declined, and they presented us with limited options: dialysis, comfort care, or continuing the current treatment, which wasn't alleviating her pain. Following her wishes, we chose comfort care, as she didn't want dialysis or tubes. Her passing was painless and quick.
With that said, I wanted to share a quick story about our mom. She was a Shaman, and her spiritual practices were passed down through generations. As a Christian, I don't participate in her beliefs or practices. I clearly remember one specific instance. She visited me and my wife from California. She saw all the crosses on my walls and decided to perform a spiritual cleansing in my home. I gave her permission, so she did as she pleased. She removed all the crosses, set up her spiritual tools, and performed her rituals, which she believed cleansed the house (lol). Afterward, I put the crosses back up and prayed that God would forgive her and that my Lord Jesus would help open her eyes someday.
Fast forward two years later, she became a believer in Christ Jesus. Her testimony showcases the true power of Jesus Christ, my Lord and redeemer. There's an old saying: you can't scratch your own back (unless you are super skinny with long arms, lol). She started experiencing what felt like an ill spirits lingering around her, and she couldn't dispel them. She even contacted her teacher for help, but it didn't work. She became very sick, and after going to the doctor and having her health checked, the doctor couldn't find anything wrong. As a last resort, she found a church and asked for their help. The pastor and his members came and removed all her spiritual tools, and they prayed over her. She became somewhat of a 50/50 believer at that point. A few weeks later, on a stormy night, she felt the evil presence again. She called the pastor, but he was out of town on another service call. The evil spirit believed it has our mothers numbered. All the ladies from the church responded to her called and came to aid her, they came in about 12 to 15’s deep. They placed their hands on her and prayed in the name of Jesus Christ, declaring there was no room in her body for these evil spirits to hide. My mom said she felt something running through her body until she felt a pop in her shoulder. And it was DONE. From that moment on, she became a true believer, knowing only God could save her. She bended the knee and asked my Lord and Savior to be her Lord and Savior. -Amen.
With all that said, she was a loving mother and grandmother to all her children and grandchildren. She passed peacefully, and her last few words praising God before she closed her eyes forever. I feel she is truly with my Lord and Savior. We are very grateful and appreciate for any kindness.
-Thank you and God bless.
