Celebrating My Graduation & Breaking the Cycle

My name is Jannesse, and I am about to graduate from college as a first-generation student. This milestone is not just a personal achievement—it's a celebration for my entire family and community. I have overcome so much to reach this point, including surviving human trafficking, domestic violence, and homelessness. Through it all, I have become an advocate for the LGBTQ community and for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. I dedicate countless hours to volunteering and supporting others, always striving to give back to those in need.

Now, as I prepare to graduate, I want to mark this moment with graduation photos and a celebration surrounded by loved ones. The funds I raise will help cover travel expenses for my family, a special dinner, and the costs of my cap, gown, and stoles. This celebration is deeply meaningful to me, as it represents breaking the cycle for my family and honoring the women who came before me. I dedicate this degree to my mom Clarice Cook, my aunties Renee Hunt, Yvonne Fitten, my daughter Keiashia Love—who are in heaven—and all the women in the Cook, Hunt, and Lee families who continue to inspire me every day.

I hope my story of resilience serves as a testimony of hope. If I can do it, anyone can. Your support would mean the world to me as I celebrate this accomplishment and share it with my community. Please consider helping me make this dream a reality. Thank you for believing in me and for supporting my journey.
