Hi! I'm Wenna, and I'm turning 30 in July!
To celebrate, I'm going to jump out of a plane and use that as leverage to get you to donate to Care Rights UK!!
Any and all friends and family are welcome to come watch me, message me for details!
Please donate by mid June if you'd like to/are able to. I'm diving in early July!
About the cause:
Care Rights UK is an organisation that advocates for care patients and their families, pushes for better training and regulation, and campaigns for reform of the UK care system. Almost all of us, whether it's for ourselves or for someone we love, will need to interact with the care system at some point in our lives. Recipients of care should be valued and treated with the dignity and respect that we all deserve, and care workers should be well paid, well trained, and subject to robust assessment and supervision.
People receiving care and their families and friends are often already going through hell when they need most to advocate for themselves and their loved ones, in the face of a system that is confusing and difficult to navigate. Care Rights UK provides an invaluable service in giving advice, guidance, and information to help make things a little less overwhelming.
The UK care system as it exists today is catastrophically overstretched, underfunded, under-regulated, and undervalued. What I have seen of it through the illness and death of my mother Clare, as her Multiple Sclerosis progressed, was shocking beyond words. It is a shame on our society that we must confront.
If you can help me meet my goal and support Care Rights UK, it would mean the world to me.
Thank you all so much x
P.S. I won't say I don't want presents for my 30th! But if the choice for you is between getting me something and donating, please donate, it would mean so much to me. I would also be very delighted with something small and/or handmade!
N.B. £249 of what I raise will go to settling the balance for the skydive, and all funds raised beyond that will go to Care Rights UK. I'll start things off with a donation myself.
