UPDATE #2 ON MITCHELL'S ONE YEAR CELEBRATION OF LIFE:

Hello everyone,

We wanted to provide an update with more concrete details for Mitchell’s one-year celebration that we have been planning, which will take place on Saturday, July 19th, 2025.

In the morning, we will be meeting around 11:20am at Boughton Hill Cemetery in Victor NY (1518 NY-444, Victor, NY 14564) to honor Mitchell at the time of his passing, which is shortly after 11:30am. We will be having a moment of silence, putting down some flowers, and if anyone wants to say something, they are welcome to do so. This will be more intimate, but everyone is still invited to come if they would like to be there for Mitchell.

After the cemetery remembrance event, we will be having a get-together at Durand Eastman Park at the Acorn Shelter (Log Cabin Rd, Rochester, NY 14617). The event will officially be starting at 1pm, but we do have the event space starting at 10am so if you get there early, that is no problem. This is just a time to be together, have fun, and remember Mitchell’s life. There will be food available, activities and we will be providing updates on the ways we have honored Mitchell the past year and our plans to continue to honor him into the future. If you would like to help with this or want to talk about the ways you have honored Mitchell as well, please let us know and we can include that! We have the space until 10:30pm, so you can always pop in and out whenever you would like, there are no expectations. If you would only like to be present for the event at Durand Eastman Park, that is no issue at all. Everyone is invited to this who would like to attend.

If you have any dietary preferences or restrictions, please let Sarah or I know so we can plan accordingly.

If you would like to help out or have any other ideas, please reach out to myself or Sarah as well.

Thank you so much everyone for your continued love and support!

UPDATE ON MITCHELL'S ONE YEAR CELEBRATION OF LIFE:

Hello everyone,
I want to say thank you again for everyone’s love and support through all of this.

Today is the one year anniversary of Mitchell’s last day in the marines.

To mark this occasion, I want to announce that we are planning on having a Celebration Of Life for Mitchell in July on the 1- year anniversary of his passing which will be Saturday July 19th 2025.

The plan is to have a little ceremony at his grave site at Boughton Hill Cemetery in Victor NY, in the late morning around his time of death followed by celebrating his life at a shelter that we have rented out at Durand Eastman Park in Rochester NY. As a family, we spent a lot of time at this park when we were younger so it is a meaningful place to us. The shelter is rented out for the whole day. There will be food, Mitchell’s art, pictures, and displays and other activities and the idea is a day to celebrate and remember Mitchell. We will also give updates on what we are doing and what we have done over the past year to remember Mitchell’s life. The day of events is open to anyone and everyone who loved and cared for Mitchell.

We hope that anyone who wants to be there can make it and please reach out to any of the Austins if you have any questions or ideas or anything at all.

We all love and care about Mitchell and I know he would appreciate this very much.

More updates to come!

With much love,
Austin Family

Hi, everyone. If you are visiting this page, you know that we recently lost an amazing person, Mitchell—a beloved brother, son, uncle, and friend. There are a million things that we could say about Mitchell, that have already been said by so many friends and family; he was a passionate, creative, wonderful person, who forged his own path with whatever goals he decided were worth pursuing, constantly challenging himself and finding beauty in the world through his art.

Mitchell passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, and family and friends are devastated by his loss. We are seeking to raise funds to help support Mitchell’s funeral services and celebration of life. Please do not feel there is an obligation to do so; and, if you are able to donate any funds at all, it means the world.

The date for Mitchell’s service on this page is an estimate, and more details will be shared in the near future as his family works through the long road to appropriately honor his life in a way that feels most reflective of who he is, was, and his time spent with us.

While you are visiting this page, we invite you to take time to enjoy Mitchell’s photographic work. This can be seen at his personal site as well as his photography instagram account, which can be found below:
