Honoring the Life and Legacy of Michael “Mikey” Gray

Michael “Mikey” Gray was not ordinary.

He was a force.

A bright light from the very beginning, Mikey carried a rare combination of talent, heart, and vision. He was the kind of person who didn’t just enter rooms; he shifted the energy in them.

During a courageous battle with lupus and heart failure, he spent weeks on life support while waiting for a heart transplant that heartbreakingly did not come in time. Mikey’s body grew tired and began to experience complications. But anyone who knew him knows this truth:

His spirit never did, and he was fighting every step of the way.

Mikey was a creator, a builder, and a performer. He spent 8 years performing with the NBA Pacers Power Pack Team, traveling the world to share his gifts, and moving crowds with the same passion he brought to everyday life. He later founded Leaping Legends, transforming athleticism into artistry and inspiration.

Whether he was on a court, on a stage, or in conversation, he brought excellence.

Beyond performance, Mikey was an entrepreneur at heart. He and his partner Chad took over a flooring business, proving that his talents extended far beyond the spotlight. He had vision, he had discipline, and he had dreams that were still unfolding.

Most importantly, Mikey loved God. He gave his life to God. He sang for God. He boldly witnessed about his faith. In the way he loved, encouraged, and showed up for others, he was a true reflection of Christ on earth. His faith was not just something he professed. It was something he lived. Music was in his bones. He loved to sing, to dance, to celebrate. He lived rhythmically and unapologetically. Joy surrounded him. Laughter encompassed him. Support encircled him because he gave it freely to everyone else.

Above all, Mikey loved his family. They were his foundation, his motivation, and his pride. He was a devoted son. A protective brother. A cherished grandson. A loyal cousin. A proud and loving uncle. A treasured nephew. A steadfast and faithful friend to countless people who now carry pieces of him in their hearts.

Mikey was a legend in his own right.

We are preparing a musical celebration of his life at Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church, honoring him in the way he lived: with music, movement, unity, and love.

This loss was unexpected and financially overwhelming. Our family was not prepared for the medical, funeral, and burial expenses that came with such a sudden departure.
