Michael Chan had just celebrated his seven-year anniversary as Packaging Program Manager at GoPro when he suffered a stroke and passed away on April 13, 2021.
He was an incredible part of seven camera launches. He lived in Hong Kong with his wife Carrie and his daughter Michelle (age 5). Michael loved photography and videography and used his GoPro cameras all the time.
He was in charge of documenting our annual Operations Supplier Summit and was commonly seen walking around with several cameras on his body and holding a Max high above the crowd. He loved creating "little planet" photos with the Max and did lots of hands-up photos. We've included some of them on this page. When we were collecting photos to celebrate his life, Ray and I realized almost all photos were taken by Michael so it was rare to have him fully in the shot. This just goes to show you what an amazing GoPro fan he was!
We are devastated by Michael's death and created this GoFundMe in order to gather funds for his widow and young daughter. All funds will be sent directly to her after the GoFundMe is completed.
GoPro employees and valued partners around the world can contribute to this fund for his family (outside U.S. can contribute using their credit card).
NOTE: Due to GoFundMe restrictions in Hong Kong, all donations will be gathered by Kristina Solheim through this GoFundMe. Kristina will then wire the donations directly to Michael’s wife, Carrie.
