With unbearable sadness, we share the unexpected passing of my sister, Mary Ellen Nugent (Dorin). On February 14, 2025, she was taken home to be with the Lord, leaving us heartbroken and grieving. Mary was not just a sister, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend—she was the very heart of our family, a radiant spirit who illuminated every room with her laughter, warmth, and vibrant light. Her unique wit and charm could effortlessly lift the heaviest of hearts, and her unwavering faith guided her through life with boundless love and grace.
Mary had a rare gift—she could make you smile just by looking at her. Her presence was comforting, and her laughter was contagious. She had an incredible ability to make you laugh, even from across a crowded room. Mary had a deep love for reading and was always eager to learn new things, constantly expanding her mind and sharing her wisdom with everyone around her.
Above all, Mary cherished her family. She was a devoted mother to her son, Eddie, who was the light of her life and brought her immeasurable joy. Mary poured her heart into raising him, and their bond was unbreakable. She also had ten beautiful grandchildren, each of whom she shared a special bond with and adored deeply. As an aunt, she was a constant source of love and support, always creating memories that will be treasured forever. To our mom and dad, she was the most wonderful blessing, and to me, she was not just a sister, but my best friend. She also had a special place in her heart for her dog, Bruce—who, let’s be honest, probably thought he was the favorite child.
Mary had a way of making everyone feel at home. Whether it was her warm embrace, her infectious laughter, or the way she could turn a simple gathering into an unforgettable moment, she made life brighter for those around her. She was a woman of deep faith, always leading with kindness, compassion, and a giving heart. She not only believed in love but lived it every day—offering a helping hand, words of encouragement, and a smile that could lift any spirit.
As we mourn this heartbreaking loss, we are faced with the unexpected financial burden of funeral expenses. This loss was so sudden, and we were not prepared for the costs associated with giving Mary the peaceful burial she deserves. We are doing everything we can to honor her memory and lay her to rest in a way that reflects the love and joy she brought into all of our lives. Any amount of support, no matter how big or small, would mean the world to us. If you are unable to contribute, simply sharing this message with others would be incredibly helpful as we navigate this difficult time.
Your generosity and compassion mean the world to us. Though we grieve, we find comfort in knowing that Mary is at peace and will always watch over us. Her passing has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts, but we take solace in knowing that her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives she touched. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your love and prayers. Mary will forever live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her, and we will carry her light with us always. Heaven has gained a beautiful soul, but we will forever hold her in our hearts.
Thank you for helping us honor her memory.
With love and gratitude,
Carrie & Family
