Our beloved friend, colleague, daughter, sister, cousin and niece, Dr. Latifatu Ojo passed away on Wednesday February 25th after battling ovarian cancer.

Lati was first diagnosed in 2024. She juggled aggressive treatment while completing her Pharmacy residency at Capital Health in Trenton, NJ. Lati was resolute. She was determined to fight ovarian cancer with all that she had while doing her best to continue living life. She endured surgery and multiple rounds of chemo all while pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming and working as a pharmacist.

Lati relentlessly pursued her dreams. As a 16 year old in Nigeria, she knew she wanted to attend high school in the US. With the support of her family, she attended LaSalle Academy in Providence, RI. From there she went on to complete her undergraduate degree at UMBC and her PharmD at Temple University School of Pharmacy. Always committed to excellence, she then embarked on a residency journey that began at Holy Cross in Maryland and concluded with a specialization in critical care at Capital Health in New Jersey.

After residency, Lati began work at Select Specialty Hospital, taking on a Pharmacist role that allowed her the flexibility she needed to continue treatment while allowing her to live out her dream.

Lati was ready to finally put all her years of training and hard work into practice. In a poem she wrote before she passed, Lati said "Pharmacy school was the first thing that ever made sense to me- like my mind had finally found its language. I didn't just study it; I fell in love with it."

We are setting up this gofundme to help Lati's family to cover the funeral and burial costs associated with Lati's homegoing. Lati was a critical pillar and source of support to so many of the communities she was a part of, including her family. We hope this gofundme can provide some financial support as we bury Lati who was taken from from all of us, much too soon.
