On behalf of the Perry family, I’m writing this in attempt to raise funds to honor my uncle Kenny.
Our family lost a beautiful soul yesterday. Kenny was the kind of person that was always more focused on how other people were. He was a selfless individual with love pouring out into his personality. He taught us all that having less should never keep you from being appreciative. Kenny only had one arm, fought off many health issues, and experienced a lot of loss and pain in his life. But when you asked how he was, he’d say “I’m walking and talking,” truly grateful just to be given a shot at life.
On one of his last days, I asked him how he was and he kept struggling to say something I couldn’t understand. He finally pointed to me and used all of his strength to say “how are you?”
That sums up how Kenny was. He gave to others without anything expected in return, a truly selfless person.
Before becoming disabled, Kenny spent years of his life working with all types of rescue animals and giving back to our community. He’s the only man I know that could wrangle or calm a stressed out animal with only one arm.
At the young age of 56, Kenny Perry was diagnosed with lung cell carcinoma on March 21, 2026 after being in and out of the hospital since January. At first, we were told he had treatment options available no matter the stage. In the coming weeks, we’d learn that treatment was not available and that he was rapidly declining in his health. In addition to lung cancer, he was fighting COPD, pneumonia, and ended up with C diff because of the varying antibiotics he was on. Kenny was dedicated to fighting off his cancer and becoming stronger, but due to his high levels of oxygen requirements and increasingly debilitation, he agreed to sign up for hospice so he could be comfortable at home surrounded by family. Our family rallied together to provide around the clock care for him, yet he still ended up in the hospital because even his oxygen needs were too great to be done in the home. He went back to the hospital one more time and became comfort care there. He fought until the end, and ultimately passed away due to organ failure. He leaves behind a huge family full of love, where there’s now a Kenny shaped hole in our hearts.
Our goal is to lay Kenny to rest peacefully and celebrate his life. In order to do this, we are hoping to raise money on his behalf for funeral expenses and a celebration of life gathering. Thank you for reading about our loved one and considering a donation.
If you can’t contribute financially, please consider sharing this on your page, or simply doing an act of kindness in Kenny’s honor.
