The world shifted on July 26, 2025. The day we lost Jonathan Diaz, a son, a brother, a father of four, and a friend whose presence could fill a room before he ever walked in. The silence he left behind is deafening.
Jonathan wasn’t just loved, he was felt. His laugh could be heard echoing down the hallway, the kind that made you laugh too, even if you didn’t know why. He had this ridiculous, perfect habit of flipping off the camera in nearly every picture not out of anger, but out of joy. Out of not taking life too seriously. That was Jonathan. Real. Raw. Loud. Loving.
His beard was his pride, but his heart was even bigger. And his greatest joy, his truest peace, was in the kitchen. Cooking wasn’t a job or a hobby. It was his love language. His way of taking care of the people he loved. And let’s be clear, when it came to seasoning the hamburger meat, Jonathan was the boss. No one dared touch it unless he was the one sprinkling in his “super secret sauce”… which, to the surprise of no one, was mustard.
He dreamed of opening his own place one day, a kitchen filled with music, flavor, and people he cared about. That dream stayed alive in every dish he made.
He leaves behind his four beautiful kids who were his world, his parents, his sister, his aunts who loved him like a son, and so many best friends and coworkers who became family. He showed up for people, always, and made everyone feel like they mattered. Because to him, they did.
This GoFundMe was created because no one expects to have to bury someone so full of life. We want to give Jonathan the goodbye he deserves, full of love, of laughter, of food, and of all the people he would’ve wanted there.
If you’ve ever lost someone too soon, if you’ve ever had someone cook you a meal just because they loved you, if you’ve ever known a loud, loyal, hilarious soul who made your world better, then you know the hole Jonathan leaves behind.
Thank you for helping us honor him. Every donation, every share, every kind word means more than you know.
